I’m continually overwhelmed by what God has done and is doing through our story. Yesterday, we had the incredible opportunity to receive Hazel’s wish from Make-A-Wish East Tennessee, and words can’t express how amazing the entire experience was from start to finish. If I’m honest, I don’t normally think of us in the same category as most Make-A-Wish families, but yesterday reminded me why Hazel is such an extraordinary candidate for a wish. I saw it in her eyes—the joy, the wonder, and the excitement.
As we continue to watch Hazel grow and accomplish so much more than we ever thought possible—more than doctors ever said was possible—my faith continues to expand. There’s so much in life I don’t know, but one thing I do know is this: Hazel’s story is changing lives. And somehow, I get to be part of it.
My biggest prayer is that any recognition, publicity, or fame that comes our way will only serve to create more awareness of what it’s like to raise a child with a disability—and the incredible gift it is when we recognize that we all have our own unique strengths, disability or not.

Today, I’m launching a fundraiser, and I want to invite you to join us. We have a big vision for what Hazel’s story can do in the lives of others around the world. I dream of gifting more books than ever before, speaking to more students than I can imagine, and helping them embrace their greatest challenges as opportunities for their gifts to shine.
