I’m thrilled to announce that I will be bringing The Hazelnut Movement to Cle Elum Roslyn Elementary in Washington State this October! This has been a dream of mine since the beginning of the movement.
A little background… Before the movement started, Hazel was attending that school, and they nominated her as a Sparrow. A Sparrow is a child with a medical need that the school sponsors. The whole community gets involved, and the students are encouraged to do community service to raise money for the child’s medical expenses or needs.

A huge part of being a Sparrow is the launch assembly. However, because Hazel was a Sparrow during the 2019/2020 school year, she missed her assembly.
When I first had the idea for The Hazelnut Movement and wanted to focus on school assemblies, I called Matt Sampson right away. Matt is the executive director of Sparrow Clubs USA, and I knew he could help me develop a program that worked.
After a few discussions, we designed The Hazelnut Movement assembly!
Since the beginning, it has been my vision to share what we’ve built at the school where it all started. On October 25th, I’ll finally be doing just that!
Here’s what you need to know if you’re local:
Friday, October 25th: If you’re a local resident of the Cle Elum Roslyn area, you’re welcome to attend the assembly. See the flyer below for times. Be sure to check in at the front office 15 minutes before the start time.
After the assemblies, at 4:00 p.m., I’ll be at Base Camp Books with 100 copies of my newest book, 20 Superheroes, available for sale and signing. All guests, local or not, are welcome and encouraged to come and support the movement! I’m excited to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people, and show love to this sweet community my family cherishes.
