As I watched Hazel’s hand being held by a sweet girl from camp, I wept. Each day, as I drop Hazel off at camp, I run around the track above the gym where they do drop-off. The last two times I’ve run, I’ve wept while watching the sweetest little girl hold Hazel’s hand and bring her around with her. It was as if she chose Hazel. 😭😭😭
I began to think, that’s all every parent wants: for their child to be chosen. Disability or not, that’s what we all want.
